We hear a loud wailing sound coming from a hospital room. Inside, it looks like a woman is about to give birth. Outside the room, a man is pacing nervously while an old woman sits nearby. Suddenly, they hear the loud cry of a newborn baby. It turns out that a girl has been born — a bit dusky in complexion, but a beautiful baby, like an angel.
The man outside the room becomes overjoyed. As they had already decided, they name the baby Shraddha. An astrologer had predicted before her birth that this child would change everything. The old lady, who is the baby’s grandmother, also smiles with happiness.
Four days later, Shraddha’s mother, Asha, is discharged from the hospital. Everyone at home is excited to welcome the new baby. But their joy is short-lived. As soon as Shraddha enters the house, her grandfather suddenly collapses to the ground. Everyone rushes to the hospital, leaving little Shraddha with her mother and siblings.
Meanwhile, Shraddha’s neighbor — a young boy named Arjun — is excited to meet her. His mother, Radha, helps him get ready, and they both rush to Shraddha’s house after hearing the news.
Two hours later, the family receives the heartbreaking news that Shraddha’s grandfather has passed away. They return home with his body to perform the funeral rites. After the funeral, Shraddha’s father and grandmother look toward the baby and, in their grief, call her a bad omen for destroying their lives. Her father even declares that he will never love her like he loves his other children.
Arjun's mother, Radha, who is also a bit superstitious, blamed little Shraddha for everything that happened. Her siblings also believed that they lost their loving grandfather because of her. The only person who truly loved her was Asha, her mother.
Arjun, who had been excited to meet the baby, couldn't understand what was happening. He just sat with his father, Vinoth, looking around in confusion.
Six Months Later
Little Shraddha is now six months old. She is crying because she is hungry, but her mother is busy serving breakfast to her other children. Asha calls out to her husband, Pramod, for help, but he refuses, saying that she is not just Shraddha's mother—she should take responsibility for the other children as well, since they are also her kids. After completing her chores and sending the kids to school, their mother went to feed the baby. As soon as baby Shraddha saw her, she stopped crying.
In the afternoon, when the siblings returned from school, they saw their mother happily playing with Shraddha. This made them feel jealous. Her elder sister Riya started crying, thinking that the little girl had stolen her mother’s love. The elder siblings, twins Vivan and Ayaan who are unidentical twins tried to console her, but she kept crying and blaming Shraddha. Vivan and Ayaan, now five years old, also began to feel that Shraddha was just an attention seeker.
Meanwhile, Arjun — who had been excited to meet Shraddha six months ago — had stopped thinking about her, as his mother had turned him against the baby. His father tried to stop her, but it was of no use.
